Situational Analysis of LGBTI community in Lumbini Province
In Lumbini Province, Nepal, the negative societal mindset towards gender and sexual minority people has led to the denial of their basic rights, causing immense hardship in their lives. They face discrimination and exclusion from family functions, leading to strained relationships with their families who adhere to societal norms. Unable to form legally recognized families or enjoy family life, their relationships often do not last long due to uncertainty about their unions. Additionally, they are deprived of their parental property, further exacerbating their challenges. The severe mental impact of these repercussions has pushed many of them to contemplate suicide as a desperate escape from their problems. Addressing these issues requires comprehensive societal awareness, legal recognition of their relationships, and measures to protect their human rights and mental well-being in the Lumbini province.
